Pirate Ships - Possession game
small-sided games02:412,879 views

Two pirate ships have come together at sea! Teams of pirates each have a number from 1-5 (more if needed). When the coach shouts that pirates number they must "board" the other ship and try to steal the "treasure" (the ball). Who can be the first to get the treasure?

Information Section

Context

A warm up activity for a session on using space to keep possession.

The thought of adding a pirate ship theme to this came after we filmed the session, hence why it is only included in the images. As a coach, can you inspire your young players to believe they are out at sea and add fun, swashbuckling adventure to a game of possession football?

Any references to this video being ‘free’ relate to when we launched the website in 2018, when all our videos were free of charge. We hoped to cover our costs through site advertising but unfortunately, we were unable to gain the necessary support for our ethical approach from either sport related companies, the media or clubs in the professional game. To continue providing and funding quality coaching videos on our platform, we have now switched to a subscription-based model. For less than £1 per week, you will not only be helping us to maintain, grow and enrich our insightful coaching resource, you will also have full access to hundreds of videos, from both grassroots and elite levels.
