In a session on shooting with a junior team we first looked at technique (and the mentality of hitting the target rather than just striking a ball), and now we applied some pressure in the form of a defender to test the skills. It was a great group to work with, and there were lots of positive improvements throughout the session.
On reflection with this practise I would have liked to have focused a little more on the decision making of when to shoot and when to take a touch, and to have added an element of competition with scores.
Coaching Points
Decision Making - when to shoot and when to take a touch
If we take a touch can we create space away from the defender
Positive reinforcement of players using both feet
Add a competition - which team can score the most
