Context
We used this exercise as part of a full session on playing out from the back, from the goalkeeper, and building attacks.
Coaching Points
* Players should make the best angles possible to receive the ball.
* Use verbal & non-verbal communication (pointing/movement) to help the player on the ball.
* Challenge awareness and decision making under pressure.
* Ensure neutrals take up good start positions and time movements.
* Encourage players to keep looking forwards so they can use the possession effectively & attack quickly.
* Help the players see the full game perspective and explain how this exercise will benefit them.
* Once players gain confidence and success, note the ways to challenge them further (end of the video & in pdf),
* Players will need to show good ball control and passing technique.
