Make the Angle Passing Box - Juniors
technical06:024,712 views

This box passing exercise is fantastic for teaching young players the importance of making a good angle to receive the ball from a team-mate. If you're looking for your team to use possession effectively, you need to begin with the fundamentals & this game will help with that.

Information Section

Context

This exercise is a good starting point before you move onto more expansive possession related games. It allows players to warm up their passing and movement before you incorporate tackling and game related scenarios.

Coaching Points

* Encourage players to make the best possible angle to receive a pass (the 'easy' angle!).

* Can players disguise their pass?

* Players should look to receive across their body (to open out...).

* Can we anticipate where the ball is going and make a good angle quicker?

* Can we play quicker?

* Encourage communication throughout.

* Can the central player free up space for the side players through effective movement and positioning?

SIMPLIFY: Less defenders / 'No-fly zone' between central area and outer area.

CHALLENGE: Defenders can tackle after set time (i.e 3 seconds) or after 1st or 2nd touch.
